General Activities of the BISE, Chittagong :-

• Monitoring secondary & higher secondary education institutions in five districts under BISE, Chittagong, giving permission of imparting education, giving academic approval, giving permission of opening subjects and groups / departments.
• Completing the registration of the students admitted into classes IX & XI.
• Approving the ‘Managing Committee’ of Schools and ‘Governing Body’ of the Colleges.
• Conducting Public examinations like SSC & HSC in five districts under BISE, Chittagong.
• Appointing examiners for SSC & HSC exams and taking arrangement for evaluating the answer scripts and publishing the results in due time.
• Issuing the Transcripts and Certificates to successful candidates of SSC & HSC exams.
• Granting recognition or to withholding or withdrawing recognition from Secondary Schools or Intermediate Colleges after considering inspection reports from its own Inspection Officer or Officers deputed on behalf of the Board.
• Prescribing conditions governing admission of students to and transfer of students from Intermediate Colleges and Secondary Schools.
• Cause inspection, if necessary, of any institution under its control by the officers of the Board or by any other person or persons it considers suitable.
• Attributing or arranging for arbitration in disputes between Teachers and Governing bodies or Managing Committees of Intermediate Colleges and Secondary Schools.
• Correcting the name and date of birth of the persons who have passed examinations held by the Board.
• Taking disciplinary action against the reported and expelled examinees of the S.S.C. and H.S.C. Examinations.
• Encouraging the teachers of the educational institutions to give quality education.
• Giving stipend to the meritorious students of this region and providing financial contribution for improving the standard of education.
• Conducting ‘Inter College Sports Competition’ among the students of college as part of co-curricular activities of the board and patronizing scouting & girls guide. 
• Takes arrangement for transfer of teachers of public colleges at the level of lecturer and assistant professor through Regional Education Authority (ASHIK).
